A feature documentary on Ani Choying Drolma — the “rock-star” Tibetan-Nepali singing nun who fights for gender equality in a patriarchal culture while reconciling with the father who once abused her.
Born into forced marriage and domestic violence, she takes refuge in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery, discovers her voice, and builds a school for girls. The film follows her journey to fulfil her father’s last wish, weaving her path together with the stories of young nuns to open larger questions of gender inequality and the universal search for freedom.
